This 14" x 36" kitchen backsplash was designed using elements that the customer chose and was a Christmas gift from his wife.

This floor was designed to separate the dining area and the living area, which is one large room. The customer chose this pattern because of the interlocking patterns of circles and flowers that give the design motion.

The Fleur de lie or Lilly pattern is picked up again on the living side of the room. Nine square feet of 2" x 2" tiles were used to create a border that runs behind the wood stove, bar, and sink.

Marina took the time to get to know Becky and me. This was extremely important to us as the design and colors had to be an extension of Becky and I. Marina would put designs together, present them to us, and then let us mull them over for a few days. This allowed us to 'feel' the design and evaluate the colors in the space. We would highly recommend Marina for your custom tile project! --Sam Yenne

At our first meeting, the homeowner brought a gorgeous platter with a tree on it. Potters in Idaho who use a glaze technique similar to mine had made it and they wanted me to use that as my inspiration for the living room fireplace. Wanting to keep the two fireplaces related but not the same we agreed that I would reproduce the platter on tile and in the colors used in the living room and in the kitchen keep.

This incised pattern was inspired by a lotus leaf and designed by the customer. Using a magic marker on plastic wrap, the designer traced the pattern, then placed the plastic wrap on the clay and traced the design using a dull pencil.

This is the Spider Flower Pattern which was used as the backdrop to an arched alcove that creates a shelf in the shower.

This Spider Flower Pattern was used in a model home for a development in Cary.

This fleur de lie kitchen backsplash was done in a model home for a development in Cary. Notice how the designer uniquely used 2" x 2" decos that were meant for diagonal installation. By placing them squarely she guides the eye from the corner of the room to the entrances of the dining and living rooms at the end of the counter tops.

This kitchen backsplash was a collaboration between myself the customer and interior designer Sally Williams. Sally’s company is called Colorful Concepts.

When we talked of our land and the sightings of the wildlife that thrilled us; a hawk in the magnolia tree, the breathlessness we felt at our dogwood in bloom, birds at play, those feelings and images became part of our piece. The backsplash brings nature into our home and we now have an original piece of art that we're a part of.” -Cathy Davis

For the butler's panty backsplash I took plant elements from the mural, ferns, dogwood, iris, and hydrangea blossoms. After playing with the pieces, the owner, designer and I decided on this simple pattern.

In fashioning a downstairs remodel with an Asian feel Emily decided to feature this tile of Calla Lilies as if it were in a gallery. With the tile as the painting she used stone tiles in earth shades to create the matte and then asked me to make a frame using elements of the boarder design

“Marina sketched out the design on paper and she could not have been easier to work with. She did the entire project to my liking. When you come into the room her "artwork" is the first thing you see and it was the entire inspiration for my decor. Everyone that comes into our home complements my husband and me, we could not be happier. Thank you so much Marina for a beautiful job!" -Emily and Richard Mayes

Using elements from this couple’s home together the three of us came up with this design.

Three 30" x 40" mirrors were made for this master bath. “We agreed on a color palette and talked about some concepts, she went off and presented us with a design a few days later, we liked it and in a month we had them up. They made the room.” Mimi F.

Decos for the doctor's backsplash.

This kitchen backsplash was done for a Raleigh doctor. The tiles are really 1” deep, 5-sided boxes that hang on the wall. They can be moved.

“When I came home yesterday I presented the tiles to our family, everyone was in awe. The artwork will make our bathroom a very special place. Thank you for your wonderful creation. We hope you will have a chance to see the finished project soon.” Charlotte K.
